Vitalis Biochar was founded to answer a specific question: what if the vast, underutilized forest resources of Newfoundland and Labrador could be turned into something that actively repairs the planet?
The answer is biochar — but not raw biochar. Thermally infused, marine-enriched biochar, produced at scale and shipped from the ports that have connected this region to the world for centuries.
We operate at the intersection of heavy industry and regenerative agriculture. We take feedstock that would otherwise rot — small-diameter sawmill residuals, stranded logs from hydroelectric clearing — and we convert it into a permanent carbon product that feeds soil for a thousand years.
The spirit of the North is not just a marketing line for us. It is where we live, where our feedstock comes from, and where our shipping containers load out. We believe the North has a real role to play in feeding the world and repairing its soil. Vitalis is how we intend to play it.
